Joe Biden made a powerful speech against dictatorship in his 2022 State of the Union address to the joint session of the U.S. Congress where he started with our foreign policy objectives in the current Ukraine-Russia crisis. We’ve all been too complacent when it comes to tyranny. As more Americans are seeing from this conflict, ‘tyranny’ is not an abstract concept to most of those around the world. It’s the main driving force that prompts people to escape their unjust lives to pursue the American Dream.

But how is the dream doing? Can people really make it in America in the 21st century? I thought there was a moment of political rhetorical genius when Biden urged Congress to pass legislation to “Make it in America”. Though it focused mainly on spurring manufacturing and technological growth, it had the subtext of assuring Americans that if we can pass his policies, everyone will be able to ‘make it in America’ again. I think someone should run with this as a campaign slogan in the midterms or even the 2024 election.

Check out the video to hear my thoughts on the speech and how South Korean principles of psychological warfare may also be applied to the current Ukraine-Russia crisis, particularly if we want to target that slow-moving 40-mile Russian convoy that’s coming to invade Kyiv. Why look at a slow-moving train wreck when you have all the opportunity in the world to take it down?
