Despite the endless scandals and rumors surrounding presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, the rags-to-riches story of his life is just too good to pass up for a great number of South Koreans. But how much of his life is fairy tale? And would we still be inspired if we knew the full story?

The mask seems to be unraveling for Mr. Political Cinderella as his poll numbers have stalled under forty percent. As his main opponent Yoon Seok-yeol swings back and forth above and below the critical forty percent level, both Yoon and third party candidate Ahn Cheol-soo have both proven that they would achieve a mandate of forty-plus percentage points if either were the unified candidate. However, Lee remains stuck in the twenty to thirty percent range. But for how long? And will the Cinderella fantasy hold forever?
